कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन।

मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भूर्मा ते सङ्गोऽस्त्वकर्मणि।।

Meaning: “Your right is to perform your duty only, but never to its fruits. Let not the fruits of action be your motive, nor let your attachment be to inaction.”

In this verse, Lord Krishna advises Arjuna about the importance of performing one’s duty (karma) without attachment to the results. He emphasizes that individuals have the right to engage in action (karma), but they should not be attached to the outcomes (phala) of those actions. The focus should be on performing one’s duties diligently and selflessly, without being swayed by desires for personal gain or success. By relinquishing attachment to the fruits of action and dedicating oneself to duty, one can attain a state of equanimity and inner peace.
